The Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission has on 8th June 2012 notified the MERC (Authorised Consumer Representatives) Regulations, 2012, by laying down inter alia the criteria for the selection of institutional and individual Consumer Representatives, the process for the authorization of the said Consumer Representatives and the various conditions with respect to the functioning of the said Consumer Representatives for representing the interest of the consumers throughout the State of Maharashtra. In view of Regulation 8.5 of the said Regulation, the following Consumer Organisations, have been representing the interests of consumers in the proceedings before the Commission prior to the date of notification of the said Regulation. These Consumer Organisations, subject to the provisions of Regulation 8 of the said Regulation, are deemed to be Institutional Consumer Representatives under the said Regulations, for the following areas:
